Bruce Willis aphasia: Razzies ‘really sorry’ for ‘worst performance’ category

A controversial awards show has canceled its harsh nominations for Bruce Willis after he was diagnosed with a brain condition and forced into retirement.

And the winner will not be Bruce Willis.

The Razzie Awards have decided not to award Bruce Willis’ “Worst Bruce Willis Performance of 2021” after much backlash.

In a statement to the post“After much thought and consideration, Al Razi made the decision to rescind the Razzie Award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently revealed diagnosis,” said the awards show’s founders, John Wilson and Mo Murphy.

The American actor was nominated for eight separate performances in films released in 2021, and even earned his “special category” at this year’s Razzies, “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis.”

On Thursday, it was revealed that 67-year-old Willis has had aphasia and has decided to give up acting.

“If a person’s medical condition is a factor in their decision making and/or performance, we acknowledge that it is not appropriate to award them a Razzie award,” the statement continued.

The organizers also told the newspaper that they will return Gloss Razzie star Shelley Duvall as well.

They added, “As we recently mentioned in an interview with Vulture, mitigating circumstances also apply to Shelley Duvall in The Shining.”

“We have since discovered that Duvall’s performance has been affected by Stanley Kubrick’s treatment of her throughout production. We would like to take this opportunity to cancel this appointment as well.”

Murphy said Eagle In February, she would like to rescind Duvall’s nomination if she could. “Knowing the backstory and the way Stanley Kubrick kind of crushed him, I would have taken that back,” she told the outlet.

After Willis’ family disclosed his illness, the awards show tweeted, “Al-Razi is truly sorry about the #BruceWillis diagnosed case. Perhaps this explains why he wants to come out strong in 2021. Best wishes to Bruce and his family.”

They continued, “In Willis’ defense, perhaps his representatives shouldn’t have allowed him to do so much work in so short a time. We offer our best wishes to Bruce and his family.”

Soon after that message, Wilson issued another statement to the outlet: “We are still discussing how to handle the news regarding Willis’ diagnosis and will get back to you.”
