Conor McGregor sparked a collaboration with music and movie star Jared Leto after the duo crossed paths at a celebrity-filled Spotify event.
McGregor was in attendance to watch rapper Kendrick Lamar perform at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres on Monday. The event took place on the first day of the Cannes Lions Festival, with McGregor also spending time at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
The UFC star was photographed in conversation with Leto, who is a huge MMA fan. Leto was present at McGregor’s last outing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as the Irishman broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in a three-way match. After posting a photo with Leto, McGregor wrote: “Talk about plots with Jared Leto, not movie plots.”
“Thanks to the Spotify team, it was a great night!” McGregor added as he pondered the night. An intimate beach party with rap legend Kendrick Lamar! One thing is for sure, if it’s music, it’s Spotify! Fantastic, cheerful talks about my UFC teammate Joe Rogan, too! What a really great strength for Spotify! I was honored to attend.”
Leto has expressed his desire to play the role of McGregor or Dana White, president of the UFC, if a film about the promotion were made. McGregor caught the actor’s comments and even invited Leto to play the role with him.
He told Extra TV, “If we did a UFC movie, if I was younger, I’d play Conor McGregor. I’ve got a beard. What Conor does and what these guys and girls are doing is just extraordinary. It is almost impossible to interfere and fake this role.

“I think Connor would be cool, or Dana White. I might be too old to do Connor but you never know. Maybe we could use some CGI. That would be a great story. I have to shave my head, go to Ireland and get a bottle of Proper 12 .”
McGregor has not appeared in any film other than his 2017 documentary ‘Notorious’. The former heavyweight champion had an additional role in The Escapist, with fellow countryman and WWE star Sheamus also appearing in the 2008 drama.
Since his horrific injury last July, McGregor has been on his way to recovery but has finally started kicking with his damaged leg. McGregor was claiming a title shot against Kamaru Usman on his return, but that’s off the table after the welterweight champion defense against Leon Edwards was recently announced for UFC 278.
