Karim Benzema has overtaken Robert Lewandowski as the top scorer in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League.

Sebastian Haller was the favorite after becoming the second player to score in all six group matches after Cristiano Ronaldo in 2017/18. Haller has already become the first player to score four times on his Champions League debut since Marco van Basten during Ajax’s 5-1 win over Sporting CP.

However, Benzema moved to first place after achieving a double in the semi-final first leg of Real Madrid in Manchester City, and the penalty kick executed by Panenka, which moved him to 14 goals in the season, one goal ahead of Bayern striker Lewandowski.
