Viaplay and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) have agreed to a multi-year extension of their long-term content partnership in the Nordic region.
The latest Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) films and series will continue to receive their premieres live from the North on Viaplay, where viewers can also watch some of the most popular collections of SPE’s classic series and movies. In addition, the high-profile SPT TV series will join the international pipeline of Viaplay Originals.
After the global success of Spider-Man: There is no room for homewhich has grossed over $1.89 billion worldwide and is currently the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, the deal will see more new releases and catalog titles from Marvel Characters studio coming to Viaplay after their theatrical performances and home entertainment windows, including debuts On screen for characters such as Kraven The Hunter, Madame Web, and Morbius.
The deal sees Viaplay secure access to a range of SPE’s box office hits and franchises, including Uncharted, Venom, Jumanji, Ghostbusters, Peter Rabbit and Bad Boys, as well as some future SPE slates, including the original Express train Starring Brad Pitt.
In addition, Viaplay will be the North’s home to a host of new series from the upcoming SPT slate, which will be revealed and presented at Sony’s LA Screenings event in May.
The agreement also includes new SPE movies and series for V Film pay TV channels from Viaplay, and a wide selection of new movies and the library for Scandinavian Viaplay TV channels.

In addition, Viaplay and SPE recently entered into long-term content deals that secure SPE content to Viaplay viewers in the Baltic states, Poland and the Netherlands.
