Warcraft mobile teased in early May reveal

Besides this slogan, Blizzard is keeping quiet (Image: Blizzard Entertainment)

Blizzard will be revealing its first mobile game of Warcraft very soon but it hasn’t decided what genre it is.

While Blizzard Entertainment has been busy with ports, re-releases, enhancements, and World Of Warcraft expansions (like the upcoming Dragonflight), it hasn’t had a brand new game release since Overwatch in 2016.

2022 is gearing up to change that with the release of Diablo Immortal (it’s a free online role-playing game on mobile and PC), and now the company is teasing yet another mobile game.

In an announcement on Blizzard’s official Twitter account, the only thing she’s confirming is that it will be set in the Warcraft universe.

Although it’s not the first Warcraft game for mobile devices, Blizzard describes it as the first game built specifically for mobile.

Other than that and the likely tagline, Blizzard hasn’t said anything else about it, not even what kind of game it’s going to be. You won’t have to wait any longer to find out, as Blizzard is set to reveal a live stream.

The said live stream will take place on Tuesday 3 May at 10am PT which is 6pm BST here in the UK.

A website is already available and can be visited here, but there is nothing there but to recall the history.

“The World of Warcraft continues to capture imaginations around the world with informative experiences and immersive gameplay, and is the foundation of World Of Warcraft and Hearthstone,” reads a Blizzard blog post.

“We are excited to introduce a new mobile game for Azeroth champions looking to play on the go, and we can’t wait to get it right in your hands.”

Jason Schreyer from Bloomberg It claims that this is actually one of the two Warcraft mobile games in development and that both have been in “Blizzard’s incubation division for several years.”

Blizzard is also still working on Overwatch 2, which is currently in beta and has been working very well on Twitch. The game lacks a release date, however, and it is not expected to release until 2023 at the earliest.

It and Diablo 4, another Blizzard project, have been delayed, no doubt in part by recent turmoil within Blizzard, and Activision as a whole, stemming from sexual harassment and toxic workplace allegations.
